About Bradley’s Honor Walk

I would like to tell you about Bradley’s Honor Walk.  An Honor Walk takes place when a donor patient, who is on life support, is transferred from their hospital room to the operating room for transplant surgery.

On Sept 5, 2022, hundreds of nurses and doctors and hospital workers quietly lined up shoulder to shoulder along the hallways throughout Mission Hospital as Josette and I wheeled our baby boy from his room in the pediatric intensive care unit down to the operating room. We had a speaker on his bed playing Memories by Maroon 5.  I was wearing my Bruins jersey and Josette was wearing her #19 baseball shirt as we cheered Bradley into heaven.  Bradley was holding his favorite blanket that he slept with every night.  As we walked by each one of the hospital workers, they had tears in their eyes as they honored our son with a hero’s goodbye, giving thanks and showing respect for the ultimate sacrifice he made to save and enhance the lives of many.  As I looked them in their eyes, I saw and felt their pain for us, as they imagined what if this was their little boy or girl.

Bradley’s Honor Walk was the most powerful and meaningful thing I have ever experienced in my entire life.  It provided Josette and I with an overabundance of peace and calm as we prepared for our boy to ascend to the Heavens. The calm and quiet display of loving support was incredibly moving and has touched our hearts for eternity.
